A visit to the Mitzel farm

Billy and I have decided that we’d like to relocate to an area that is about an hour’s drive from our present farm.  Today we went looking for an appropriate property where we could do a project similar to what we are doing on our 3 acre farm, but that could include fields for growing crops worked by oxen.  In addition, a property that is suitable for a more inclusive permaculture project where we could teach local living skills such as home dairying, bee keeping, growing a well rounded diet, preserving food, working draft animals, black smithing, basket weaving, making medicine using local plants and much more.  We came across the Mitzel farm and spent a wonderful afternoon with Alfred and Janette.  It is an ideal property for what we have in mind.  Tomorrow I’ll post more details about the project, and who knows, maybe things will come together in such a way that we can make this project a reality.
